While learning how to operate and survive on the Ryvius, the crew aboard the saboteurs' ship prepare for their backup plan. The Zwei assign groups for certain jobs to make the operation of the Ryvius much smoother. However, Kouji and Yuki are placed into the same group and they are less than enthusiastic. Yuki's bitterness towards his brother, though, makes him take his anger on his brother, all while the Ryvius is being attacked. The Ryvius automatically defends itself by creating a well of immense gravity, destroying the ships in the process.

Dangerous Wounds
In the last battle, Van incurs life-threatening injuries which Hitomi discovers to match Escaflowne's battle damage exactly. Fortunately, Dryden (Millerna's betrothed) appears and uses his knowledge of ancient technologies to summon Escaflowne's original builders. The Ispano repair Escaflowne and in the process, heal the pilot whose blood pact intertwines his fate with the Escaflowne's. Thus restored, Van rushes to mete out vengeance upon the Dragon Slayers, despite the consequences.

Tatsuhiro and Kaoru are back on track to finishing their eroge when all of a sudden Kaoru receives a serious call from home and has to return immediately. After a long period on his own Tatsuhiro is happy when Kaoru returns however he returns with bad news, of having to work at his farm once they finish making their game. The two end up drinking their troubles away and doing something foolish.
